Well chaps,,,

A loss of 5 runs when she looked to be pretty much in the bag, but we can take a bit of heart from the game.

For one, as with last week, they seemed to get away with nudging it around - not many back nets - whereas we tended to believe that knocking it out of the park was a good idea.

But credit to Paul and Simon, and Callum and Steve for grafting away to get us back in it after the start Dave and I had made. Dave - we were in business there until the last over, but a good return for you.

Also on the subject of Dave - a marvellous diving catch and a great second over - not bad for someone who has been off the pitch awhile - well done.

Steve as ever rock solid behind the stumps, getting a couple of great stumpings (Ricky was bagging me about this). I think a couple of catches were made in one of your overs and a DEFINITE, INDISPUTABLE stumping in the last over (that guy was never going to make it back...). I think Greg snatched a catch and you got a caught and bowled as well.

Callum - excellent again at the back with a couple of crucial catches off Simon's bowling.

Also on the subject of Ricky - I got a bit confused at times regarding the whole balls in an over thing - I suspect that this wasn't picked up until late in the match, but we should have had it in the bag by then. Ah well.

Simon - an excellent second over that got us right back in the match.

I haven't seen the stats yet, but I certainly know I had two extras in the first over and no wickets - so apologies for not making my targets (hopefully I can scalp a couple of Simon's wickets by the law of averages!).

All in all it was a much better performance than last week chaps, so we can take a bit of heart from that one. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of Chan's pom poms however...

Ah sod it.  I had an 8 paragraph rant all typed up and my login must have expired in the interim so when I tried to post it the page asked me to login.

Cliff's notes:  Bowled ok, batted ok, sod it.

Moral of the story: Work the sidenets if you're chasing 20 off 28, and bowl a few less extras (We gave them 38, they gave us 24).
