We were looking quite short for this, with seven scheduled to show up, and six showing.  Because of this, when I won the toss I chose to bat first to give time to find players.

Batting:
Greg and I led the charge, and managed to get on top with a one-wicket 37.  The bowling was sharp, but not intimidating - they are all cricket players, but not particularly good ones.  Props to Greg for no dot-balls or outs in his innings.

Bart and Simon were next in, and fortunately the opposition put down 16 runs in extras, as Bart and Si returned the favour with scores of -8 and -9 respectively.  Three outs each was far too many to recover from.

The third partnership yielded 24 between old batting foes...er I mean comrades...Paul and Chan.  Paul batted very well for his 19 in which he was out once.  Chan showed more cross-bat than an ice-hockey player and walked away with -5.  However, if he were to petition Damon to reverse the run-out I'd sign it.  If I were trying to run Chan out pointlessly, I couldn't have done a better job than what Gatch did.  Truly a sight to behold.

Adam and Greg finished their beers about this point and strode to the wicket full of confidence inspiring comments like 'we got -30 in our last over'.  The alcohol seemed to do them good, for they managed 33 with three outs.

Shoutout to OMG, who top scored out of the regulars and gave us something to laugh at with the runout.

Bowling:
We set 93 in the batting, which is definitely defensible at our level.  I led off the bowling as usual, and liked what I saw in terms of the batting that I bowled myself out in the first partnership.  That was a hunch that paid off, leaving their first partnership with just 5 runs to show.

Their next three partnerships scored 33, 30 and 29 to take a 4 run victory.  We took most of the chances that came our way, but not all, leaving us an opportunity to play 'What If?'  Many of our bowlers had a cheap over and an expensive over.

Shoutout to our subs (Adam and Greg) who conceded just 18 runs from their combined 4 overs.

Generally:
Definitely a winnable game, and with a full side we can beat them provided we don't play diabolically.  We salvaged 2 quad points from the match, which is to be expected with such a close match.  Some good pressure in the field, and we made them work for the win.

Personally:
16 batting, -16 bowling = Happy chappy.  'nuff said really.
