Ack.  My best bowling performance ALL SEASON, including a hat-trick of all things, and then I go and score -6 with the bat.  Where's the justice?

Hmm... best I write a captain's comment (again - first attempt failed because it took me a half hour to write and a session timeout occurred and lost the lot!)...

Anyway - we fielded first as they didn't have enough players (6 in total, and let them have an extra from another game - no huge drama). Should really be more mercenary on that - not our problem!!!

Their first partnership was pegged back by some excellent - bowling by Simon and Ben and they only managed 20 runs. An indifferent start really - not a huge amount of chances but we took that ones that came our way. Total of 4 outs in the first partnership.

Their secind partnership was pegged back to 8 courtesy of a fantastic hat trick by Greg (C&B, Bowled, and a juggling catch by Ben). Also a shout out to OMG for a very credible -2 off his first over. Total of 6 outs in their second partnership - OMG and GMan hogging 5 off them!

Their third partnership featured their ring-in and Glen W and they got 28 - Simon bowled well again to a Left and Right handed partnership - good effort. Shame you weren't getting as much tweak as normal, but I reckon if you can mix up the quicker flatter ball, your sheikh of tweak ball and that straight on one you will get a heap more wickets. Just a bit of advice to fill out your resume! Total of 3 outs in the partnership.

Their fourth partnerhsip was surprisingly solid - only two outs and a serious of side net batting winning the day for them. I had to retie from keepiong for the last two overs (bent thumb courtesy of Pete!) but paid off with a catch off Ben's bowling (two catches in the match - amazing!)

Our batting started with OMG and Chan leading the way - not a huge score of 8 featuring 4 outs.

Simon and Pete went in second and got us to 24, and featured a dropped catch followed up with a possible run out chance because Pete "took stop and smell the roses" literally and stopped and smelt the invisible roses on the pitch because the catch was a sitter... 3 outs in the innings.

Katene and I stepped up to the mark next and top scored for the side with 23 (amazing that I was in a top scoring partnership - point one) and I managed to top score with 11 (Point two of amazement factor!). We were hoping to peg the run rate back to around 1.00 but 3 outs cost us in the end.

Greg and Ben were last up chasing 43 runs - not very fair unless it was Damo and Callum against the Mad Men... 6 outs, but I think that we were still in it with 2 overs to go...

Overall:

We conceded far too many extras - 15 in total (that's 30 runs for those who didn't manage pre-school maths...)

Ironically GMan and OMG conceded 6 of those extras, but managed to keep there totals at 3 or less! Shoutout to Si for conceding only 6.

Batting (pots and kettles here guys, apologies)... we lost 30 runs from being bowled 6 times, and a further 30 runs from 6 run outs. Only one stumping and one catch. Moral of the story - we kept the ball down well (courtesy as much of Geln's butter fingers...), but we didn't protect our stumps and possibly our calling wasn't the flashest (or in the case of OMG, Chan didn't listen...).

I reckon (as per Callum's previous comments) we target a minimum of four outs per partnership against opposition, a maximum of two outs for our partnerships, and get those damn extras down - we really suck at gifting runs!!!

Anyway, onward and upward for our next challenge against either Public Trust or Mad Men.
