Oh dear.
Well, potentially we should consider adopting their team name.
Precursor to this commentary � Ricky was the umpire.
The game started with a hiss and a roar � Callum no doubt jubilant he didn�t
concede 28 runs off his first over � it was in fact a very tidy over!
Then, somehow, Pete got the ball in his hand and let fly. In superb style he
taught the poor batsmen a lesson and did well to concede 1 run from his two
overs � an excellent effort and the best of the bowling in terms of runs
conceded. He would have been bettered by Steve if the guy keeping would wake his
ideas up � someone remind me not to snatch at the ball immediately after they
edge it and wait until it bounces off the back? Please if you would be so kind�
Chan � also an excellent effort again in the field � not the usual high
standards that you have imposed on yourself (and is now expected btw ;) ) but
still very solid � I especially liked the kick to not concede the 3 runs � well
done. And good with the ball to boot � well done.
On the subject of fielding � you can not go past Callum�s excellent catch in the
corner � a brilliant piece of fielding � well done.
We had plenty of chances in the field last night, but we were all in all a bit
sloppy. Remember the ball is always live, so get it in your hand after a runout,
slip up or what have you. The only time it is dead is when it is out of the
pitch, �locked� in the corner or between overs. So stay sharp guys!!!
Also of concern again was the extras conceded � Ricky sucks as an umpire (I
still disagree with the wide he called considering when it went past Steve it
was still 10 cm inside the line�) but still no excuse. We conceded 38 runs of
their 83 � positive side, we took 14 wickets. Again I challenge you all to bring
the figure down�
Batting � well. I think there maybe some kind of language barrier here. Grafting
is the �art� of playing the sides, for instance, a cross-batted slog (as
witnessed with my last shot�) is not grafting� not looking at anyone in
particular (Chan) but the big shot (Chan) is not always on (Chan)� replace Chan
with Bart on occasion btw�
Big ups to Damo and Greg for getting us home with a well rounded 34 with no
extras � exceptional � well done. Damo would you care to open a batting clinic �
there were some sounds of disgust at how casually you hit the sevens � �You can
not look so casual and still cane a 7, not fear� and the �When I play that shot,
it goes straight to the fielder behind the bowler��
I would love to say it was a solid effort but we were a bit lacklustre out
there. Hey, I have the �I had a cold� excuse� somehow we eeked out a win, so
let�s take it, and tighten up the act all round. I�m sure it wasn�t for lack of
trying guys, but let�s not get comfy and coast otherwise we�re looking down the
barrel of a season of pain � and I don�t want to slip on the only stat I lead in
� captaincy win percentage!!!
