That was some of the worst fielding ever (the umpiring was nearly as bad).  The sort of performance that leaves me sobbing in my cereal the next day.  I think the final ball where Chan stopped the ball with his balls sort of summed up the evening.  There was plenty of blood on everyone's hands.

So many chances were blown with what appeared to be frantic scrabbling for the ball.  Chill

I don't think we ran Prefect out even once.  He's gotta be 120 kilos, and runs slower than Bart.  Throw to his end.

When bowling, Prefect gives the ball far too much loop to hit him for 20 in an over (without charging), you can't drive from the crease - hit down on the ball for sidenets.  He should be an easy 12.

The only person who's shown any success with charging is Damo.  The rest of us, just don't.  Don't.

Ducky does go to Phil for his unusual technique for avoiding the runout.  For those that weren't taking notes: Drop bat, fall over and smash hand, go back for bat, fumble bat, drop bat, forget bat, start walking back, keep walking...whatever you do, don't run.

While Phil may have got the ducky, that was because we could actually laugh about it.  Unlike some transgressions, which redefined tragic, and probably created records at the centre...

When you've just gotten out six times in a row, a block will do nicely.
Hmm, actually, when you've just gotten out five times in a row, a block will do nicely.
Hmm, actually, when you've just gotten out four times...

Wow, I miss all the fun.

BTW Callum, I think there might be a slight exaggeration there; nobody got out 6 times in a row.  Chan got out in 3 successive balls, then next ball was Bart, next ball was Chan, and next ball was Bart.  Prefect is THE MAN!!

In my own defense - I did signal to Chan to block the last. And he nearly managed to get run out on the last as well.
4th ball - I was trying to hit us out of trouble...

Popping my shoulder while fielding probably didn't help too much either.

And as for the runs slower than Bart - Chan and I managed a second run in the last over which is probably how I managed to get in the positives.

I don't charge - it involves moving - something I am pretty sure we all know I am not keen on doing too much.

It was indeed a dreadful and lacklustre night - but kudos to Damo for some stunning one hand catches.
