There was no toss, as they were temporarily short, they wanted to bat first - which I was happy to have them do to allow us to know our quad-targets.
Bowling:
We bowled pretty well, good consistently challenging lines. Their technique was pretty shoddy, and presented us with many chances. Our fielding seemed to take good advantage of any chances - we got 18 wickets, which is quite a few. While other teams would not offer so many chances, if we retain our conversion rate, we will take more wickets against other teams.
Furthermore, we bowled only 7 extras (14 runs) in our innings - I can't recall a lower figure, well done.
Their partnerships set 10, 7, 22, and 36 for a total of 75. Quite a small target, which set us up for a controlled chase.
Shoutout to Bart for his 5 wicket bag, from his overs of -12 and -3.
PS: Bart, negatives are good for bowling, but not for batting ;)
Batting:
Chasing a paltry 75 against a team who's cricketing technique promised pies in the bowling should have been an absolute doddle. We sure know how to make it look tough (admittedly helped by some good throwing from the fielders).
Bart and Simon were in first, and with a score of -1 after the first three overs, positive figures were looking satisfactory. They showed some character with their last over taking 12 from it with some nicely selected shots (no dot balls, lots of working the side-nets) to take their total to 11 to secure the first quad by one run. Not that I was counting or anything.
Chan and Gatch were next to the crease, facing the daunting target of 8. After two overs and just 5 runs added, they looked to be doing it tough. Fortunatly, they were just toying with us heart-attack victims and would put on a solid 18 from the final two overs to make a tidy 23 (albeit with four wickets).
Greg and Pete were charged with scoring 23 for the third partnership which would secure a quad and put our fourth partnership easily within touch of the win, and freedom to swing if need be to secure the fourth quad. They looked abit underdone out there, with alot of singles (9) and dot balls (5). They got out only three times, and the scoring was sufficient to make 18 only.
Steve and I walked out needing 24 for the win, 37 for the quad, and 67 for the all-time best partnership. Two out of three aint bad I guess - we walked off with 62 and no wickets to our names. Damo and Greg can breath a sigh of relief as their record is safe...for now ;)
For the shoutout, I'm going to make mention of Gatch's batting which netted him 18 runs this game. At the risk of putting the mockers on him, his batting has come a long way this season - he's averaging 10.14 for this season.
Generally:
A win, and as such you won't hear any complaints out of me (especially a 7-1 win). We saw quite visibly the benefits of batting second and knowing the targets. Simon and Bart batted for their target in their last over, any ground it out for a quad-point.
Our record for the season is 5 wins and 4 losses, with all the wins beig comfortable (in the end at least) and 2 of the losses being close(ish).
Personally:
14 runs off my bowling, with the second over (of 13) containing a few uncapitalised chances. I can't recall any horrible fielding blunders, so I can't have shamed myself more than usual in the field.
The understanding between Steve and I enhanced our innings significantly, as we don't offer any chance through running mixups. Obviously pretty happy with scoring 34, but against another team that could have innings could have included four wickets.

Yes - a good effort by all and thanks to the bowling figures assistance from all concerned.
Greg, please don't laugh so hard at me from running someone out off my own bowling - I didn't know what was going on (as opposed to... some may ask...)
Apologies to Callum for missing a catch in his first over. Admittedly it was a rocket... thankfully it woke me up enough to perhaps threaten Damo for his feilding position (not friggin likely...)
Apologies also to Steve for missing a runout on his last over. Chan you've gotta get up on the stumps so I have something to aim for ;)
I'm kidding, but hesitated because I thought/hoped you would be up. In future - come up, or hang completely back so I can let rip!!! ;)
All in all, a good effort from all.
And apologies for the batting. It was piss poor shocking...
